Most of us now and again look in the mirror and spot new creases on our face and neck. What causes wrinkles to appear in greater and greater number the more we age? Sometimes it looks like they are not here when we go to the bed and suddenly they are all over our skin in the morning. We are all aware of this occurrence and those lines are commonly referred as sleep wrinkles, which usually disappear soon after we wash our face or take a hot shower.
While main factor that causes wrinkles during the night is more or less our sleeping position, lines that form as a result of other conditions, don’t go away so easily and will most certainly become deeper and deeper unless we take necessary steps in nurturing our skin.
We should all know what causes wrinkles in excess in the first place, so that we can avoid them completely rather than treat them when they already exist. Treatments require much more time and energy and will never completely get rid of lines and creases.
Below you will find most common causes for premature wrinkles to appear and you are encouraged to follow any if not every of these tips in order to keep your skin looking young and smooth.

What Causes Wrinkles To Form Prematurely And In Excess?
Exposure to sun
We indispensably require sunlight to stay healthy, while too much sun on the other hand is exactly what causes wrinkles nowadays, because we think of sunbathing as some kind of necessity that every human being should undergo. UV rays will damage our skin cells, break down collagen fibers and make protective outer layer of the skin thinner.
Our body will try to replace dead cells with new ones but this will result in so called solar scars in the collagen fibers. This is one of the main causes for wrinkles to form as a result of excessive exposure to sun.
Smoking
So what causes wrinkles even more than sun rays? You guessed it; smoking. We are all aware that smoking is bad for the well-being of our body, but not all of us knew that smoking also greatly contributes to the early aging and wrinkling of our skin. Cigarette smoke doesn’t affect only the skin on our face, but also our neck, trunk and arms.

To be more technical, smoking reduces flow of the blood through veins and vein lets, which results in poor supply of oxygen and essentials to our cells. Skin loses elasticity and moisture and starts to produce age spots and lines.
What causes wrinkles on our skin as a consequence of smoking beside the process above? There are two more common ones to mention.
Firstly, smoke that is coming from the lit cigarette usually gets in the eyes and irritates them. Person subconsciously squint with his/hers eyes in order to protect them from aggressive fumes. This constant repetitive action will cause increased wrinkles around the eyes.
Secondly, while the smoker drags the cigarette fumes into his mouth and lungs, his or hers cheeks sunk, which is what causes wrinkles over time at the corners of the mouth.
